Borobudur, sacred Buddhist temple, one of the great monuments to civilization in the world. Build between the seventh and eighth century by the Cailendra dynasty on the island of Java in Indonesia

Each section of the temple, walls and passages are covered with intricate reliefs and concavities containing statues of Buddha.

First level alley with two chains of relief at the upper and lower side of the wall, and on the balustrades.

A total of 1460 reliefs are accommodated in the temple which stretches over more than five kilometers.

The second level with only one chain of relief.

Borobudur still abounds in mysteries, the center of the Kingdom that build the temple has not been discovered, nor the reason for the rise and fall of Borobudur since it was build.

The transitional alley from Rupadhatu to Arupadhatu, shaped as a large plain.

The three steps of Arupadhatu have a row of hollow stupas, and each is adorned with a statue of the Lord Buddha.

The three steps have 32, 24 and then 16 stupas, organized in systematic layers. The first two layers have diamond shaped cavities, the third layer of 16 stupas has cavities with either square or diamond shaped cavities.

The basic principle of Buddhism is the belief that everyone passes through a series of reincarnations. To free oneself from this cycle of life and death, one must realize the Four Pillars of Truth (Catur Aryasatyani):
1. Life is misery.
2. The root of misery is lust and desire.
3. The elimination of misery is possible.
4. To avoid misery, one should observe the eight Main Paths (Hasta Arya Marga).
